Thanks for taking some time out of your busy day to visit the FUMC Student Ministries website.
Here at FUMC, we have two Groups that gather on a weekly basis: Jr. High Student Life is geared for students in grades 5-7, or ages 10-12. Our Jr. High students are filled with energy and are eager to grow in their faith. Sr. High Student Life is geared for students in grades 8-12, or ages 13-18. Our Sr. High students are world changers who are hungry and thirsty for more of God and long for authentic relationships with other young believers in Jesus Christ.
In addition to our Christian Education opportunities on Sunday mornings, we have two venues to get plugged into on a weekly basis: Student Life Teen Night, is now held on Friday evening's from 6:00 to 7:30pm for Jr. High Students and from 7:30 to 9:00pm for Sr. High Students. LifeGroup, which is the small group ministry for students, meets on Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm.
Simply put, this is a group filled with young people who are seeking to "live out" their faith together - as one big family. We desire to grow in faith and tackle topics that are meaningful to students today. We believe in equipping and empowering young people to be the hands and feet of Christ - to be servant leaders in a world that is longing for something worth living and dying for. We find no greater cause, than the cause of Christ. Feel like something is missing in your life? Seeking something more? Come check us out!

LifeGroup is our Wednesday evening Small Group Bible Study & Discussion Group that meets from 7-8pm in the Youth Room. Interested Jr. & Sr. High Students are always welcome to attend. We are encouraging LifeGroup students to participate in the weekly Community Lenten Series held each Wednesday during Lent at 7pm.
Student Life Teen Night, is going on a road trip this Friday evening, March 12th. We are traveling to Ozzy's in Leesport for a benefit concert feauturing the music of Michael Fugitt, Calling Out Closer & others. Cost for the concert is $5. All proceeds benefit Haiti Relief efforts. For an additional $15, students may purchase an amusement pass for the evening for all of Ozzy's attractions.
Student Life is a place to come and be yourself - no strings attached - no masks to wear - no pressure to "fit in." We're one big family who seeks to worship God and have a blast living life together as followers of Christ.

Friday's at Student Life
d8ing or w8ing?
Jr. High: 6:00-7:30pm
Sr. High: 7:30-9:00pm
It doesn't matter if you've kissed dating good-bye or embraced dating with a bear hug, there are some things that you absolutely must know before hanging out with the opposite sex - in a dating relationship. Maybe you're curious about your first date or want a better outcome than your last relationship. In this new series on dating, there will be plenty of straight talk and discussion. We'll cover topics like: how old is old enough, dating with a purpose, watching out for red flags, when to let go and how, embracing rejection, how far is too far, and more. Other topics covered later in the series will include: pornography, technical virginity, what to do if you messed up, establishing healthy boundaries, sexuality & more. Each week that we gather, there will be good stuff to wrestle through and plenty of opportunity for questions.

Why we MOVED to FRIDAY NIGHTS...
|
|
|
|
|
A WORD FROM PASTOR KRIS
For many years at FUMC, our Student Ministry group meetings have been held on Sunday evenings. Beginning this month, we have moved to Friday's during the Winter of 2010 - call it a three month experiment. Simply put, it has always been our passion at FUMC to impact as many students as possible. Let's face it, Sunday evenings can be tough. There is homework to finish and projects to wrap up. Families look for that last moment together before a new work/school week begins. Life has gotten too busy...too complicated. We need Sunday for worship and rest. We're taking this huge leap of faith because we believe that we can connect with more students on Friday nights. Students need a gathering place. A place where they can relax and be themselves. A place where they can hang with friends. Jam to some music, play a few games on the Wii or PlayStation, and unload after a busy week, filled with pressures and stress. Students need a place where they can wrestle with life, faith, with issues that students face on a daily basis. A safe place.
Student Life is that place. That venue. That outlet.
We're kicking off a new series on Dating & Sex. We want to equip students to navigate these tricky waters.
Friday nights will either be a bust, or we will connect with and reach more students. We're willing to take that risk. We're willing to take the Friday Night plunge because we love students and believe in them. Come join us.
Jr. High (Grades 5-7, Ages 10-12) 6:00-7:30pm
Sr. High (Grades 8-12, Ages 13-18) 7:30-9:00pm
